Mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.

- Oxford Dictionary

What are some ways I can practice Mindfulness?

  • Walk in nature.  Tune into your senses. Notice 1 thing you see, smell, feel and hear.  Can you touch something?

  • Be present when in your conversations. Are you really listening to what they are saying or thinking about what you will say next?

  • Pay attention to how you walk.  Do you walk heel first or front foot pad?  How does your body feel when you are walking?  Are you slumped forward or standing tall?

  • Relax for a set time each day. Set a timer for 5 minutes and sit comfortably. Feel the sensations in your body. Be aware of your thoughts and your breathing. Notice how your mind wanders. Bring it back to focus on your breath.

  • Listen to a guided mindfulness meditation through an app on your phone or at an in person class.

  • Participate in yoga classes

Meet Your Mindfulness Guide

Linda Balwinski started her mindfulness journey over 20 years ago through counseling, mindfulness courses and certifications as well as establishing a regular yoga and meditation practice.  After suffering from poor health and anxiety most of her life as a result from early trauma, Linda took control of her life after September 11, 2001 when she committed to getting healthy after hearing the horrific stories of 9-11 victims who didn’t have a choice to live.

She has dedicated her healing journey to all of the people who lost their lives that day.  Her career has been that of a corporate traveling salesperson which led to the initial road warrior connection.  But her passion remains in being an influencer of Mindfulness living and helping others to live their best life.
